Marytha Pitt- Making a Difference One Resident at a Time

2 years ago this March, Marytha walked into Wedgewood Estates and began volunteering. She comes every Monday and Friday to assist residents with BINGO. She also comes one Tuesday a month to play the piano and sing hymns for a devotional lead by another Storyside Church Volunteer.  She moved to the area with her husband, John, from Iowa to be around family in November of 2022. Four months later, she leaped into volunteering through the volunteer“Dream Team" Program at Storyside Church. She fit in right away. It felt like she had been volunteering here forever. She also volunteers on Sundays at our Church Info Center.  

When I asked Marytha why she likes volunteering at Wedgewood, she had this to say… “It's such a spiritual environment. You pray, do devotions, and let the spirit flow. It's (volunteering) fun! We laugh, we joke, and I go away feeling filled. I really get more out of it than the people I volunteer for.”

Over the past 2 years, Marytha has built so many wonderful relationships with our residents. She is always uplifting, encouraging, kind, and real. Her love for Jesus shows in everything she does. We love and appreciate her very much. She makes a difference in the lives of our residents every time she walks through the doors.
